Facade washing: how rope-access work is planned and when you need it

How Baku's wind, dust and sea salt affect facades, and how washing on high-rise buildings is done safely.

Facade washing: how rope-access work is planned and when you need it

A glass facade gives a building a modern look, but in Baku it gets dirty quickly. The Khazri and Gilavar winds bring dust, and along the shore a salt layer forms on the glass. The facade ends up looking grey and less light gets inside.

When should a facade be washed?

The exact frequency depends on the building's location. By the sea and near construction sites facades get dirty faster. As a general rule, plan a wash when a visible layer of salt or dust appears on the glass, and after any construction or renovation work.

How rope-access work is planned

  • Survey: building height, facade type, anchoring options on the roof.
  • Safety plan: work zone, closing pedestrian paths, anchor points.
  • Product choice: different products for glass, aluminum, composite and stone.
  • Washing: top to bottom, strip by strip.
  • Inspection: checking for streaks and marks from the ground and from inside.

Why a certified team matters

Working at height is among the highest-risk jobs. The condition of equipment, the choice of anchor points and the team's experience directly affect safety. Our rope-access team is led by a certified specialist, and a separate safety plan is prepared for every site.

Facades after construction

New buildings have cement, silicone and paint left on the glass. Plain water won't remove them, and the wrong tool scratches the glass. That's why the first wash takes longer and is done with special tools.
